October Releases

Hi. Now that I've finished the latest Medicated Robots album, I hope to be posting a bit more in here now that I've freed up some brain bandwidth. This month we had a bunch of cool shit come out. In case you have pierogies for eyes, here's what you missed!

Medicated Robots- Eidolon
First up is a plug for my own album. Medicated Robots: Eidolon. There has been a lot of emotion and work poured into this album, and it's both relieving and revealing that it's out in the open now. You can stream this album on any music platform you think is good.

Ohio Power

Local heroes and friends Brain Cave released two new songs on a split with Stalchild, V-Trigger, and Closedown. A cool way to bring bands and people together in a time when you really can't. Honestly, anything with the "Tiny God" name on it is worth checking out. Go check out all the releases here.

Puscifer- Existential Reckoning
The fourth studio album by Puscifer was released on October 30th. To me, this is a project that everyone could find at least one song they'd get real into. There's no set sound, or lineup with this band. To be quite honest, there isn't a TON of stuff I like by these guys, but this album is the most consistently quality material. Definitely worth a listen!

 Nothing- The Great Dismal
This album was a huge fucking surprise to me. Not so much that they put out new music, but that it was actually good. Aside from the very first record "Guilty of Everything" this band sort of lost me. To me, it was so obvious that this band was borrowing sonic elements of early shoegaze textures, especially the mile wide guitar tones. Everyone praised them and the 90's shoegaze albums seemed to be "so cool" to like again.

Songs like "Say Yes" straight up sound like a My Bloody Valentine classic. I've heard complaints about this album sounding "too produced" by people who praise records that realistically sound almost identical, certainly production wise. Great record!

Ken Andrews- What's Coming
A surprise release for sure! This is the first solo record from Ken in years now. It's been a pretty consistent reunion for Failure, so his solo career seemed to be shelved. I have to admit, the song that was released as the "single" off of this with the video "Sword and Shield" was pretty unbearable, but the rest of the songs were really great. "What's Coming" is exactly what makes me love Ken's invincible production style. The bass tone is fucking mind blowing.

If you haven't heard these records yet - go do it!

K bye.
