Here are some albums I've been obsessed with the last few weeks:
Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow- Ex Machina Soundtrack
An extremely hypnotizing album. The movie itself has a very modern, sharp visual aesthetic to it that draws even the casual movie fan in. The music compliments the films ominous mystique perfectly. It's rare for a sci-fi synth soundtrack not to be cool to me, but this one is extra cool.
True Widow: Self Titled
This is a band that makes it a little difficult to fully explain their sound. You can agonize over every big word and try and narrate the sound the best you can - but this is definitely a band you need to hear on your own. Instant bummer vibe from these guys.
It's a very emotional record. Not in the "emo" sense of high school poems over power chords, but you get a strong bummer vibe from every musician. The singer sounds like he took 200MG of melatonin and is just trying to get through his vocal takes before he goes to sleep indefinitely.
